Dia De Muertos Celebration

The Spanish Language Group at Message is hosting a Dia de Muertos celebration for all Message families.

 The Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition in which we gather to remember and celebrate our loved ones who have passed away. It is not a sad occasion; it is a joyous celebration of life and death. This day is like a family reunion where we eat, drink and celebrate life.  

Socialize among friends and join the activities:  Traditional ‘Altar de Muertos’: Participate in building a community ‘ofrenda’ to honor those we have lost. It is an excellent opportunity to share memories with our children.  

Cookie Decorating: Learn how to professionally decorate a cookie to look like a colorful skull (beautiful skulls are a big part of this holiday).  Pan de Muertos 

Degustación: Taste the iconic ‘Pan de Muerto’, a sweet and fluffy bread. We have a French-Mexican bakery that follows the traditional recipe.  

Bingo: Do you know what ‘cempasúchil’ and ‘catrina’ mean? Discover and learn by playing Bingo with a Day of the Dead twist. Do you dare to play?  

Dance: Do you know the skeleton twist? An interactive dance for all ages.  

Although Message is subsidizing the event, there is a participation fee to help cover some of the costs involved. Unfortunately, we do not have subsidized tickets for non-members (but they are still welcome to join).
