About the Event
Message is offering an in-person Childbirth Workshop conducted by Nicola Thompson, a practicing doula, Message member and volunteer.
This hands-on workshop is designed for women and their partners, women may choose to bring a family member or friend instead. We will begin by discussing the incredible physiology of birth and the amazing hormones that orchestrate the wondrous process of birth. We will also talk about practical ways we can protect this process and keep the birthplace, be it hospital or home, full of oxytocin so a woman feels safe and labour and birth can flow. The main focus of the workshop will be exploring and practicing comfort measures for mothers during pregnancy and birth including, positions, movements, sounding, breathing , water, massage, rebozo, communication and relaxation, with the biggest emphasis on trusting the process, and most of all, trusting yourself!
